1. The coordinates 33.9 N and 116.25 W, took us to a desert area NE of Palm Springs in the Joshua Tree National Park. This area is very desolate of humans and their structures, the nearest human civilization is about two miles away. This specif,ic point is a very mountainous and rocky area which would make living conditions very hard. All of the homes living near this area are in a pattern, in these neighborhoods there are more than a dozen houses, there is not a house that is built away from the groups. And the farther you get away form the desert the more houses you find.
2. This area is a desert, so it is very dry and hot. Even though this area does not have any tree or shrubbery there are some trees growing close by farther into the Joshua Tree National Park.
3. From the Coordinates 33.9 N, 116.25 W to 33.75 N, 116.25 W it is approximately 18.6 miles
4.The coordinates 33.75 N, and 116.25 W lead to a golf course in Palm Desert, Ca. The density is much greater here. There are many more roads and many more houses, leading to a much higher density that 18.6 miles away at the first coordinates.
5. There must have been a lot of modification to create the golf course and homes. Because it is a desert it is very dry, and water had to be drawn from the earth to supply enough water for the golf course and the hundreds of house surrounding.
6. Its location is in a narrow strip of vegetation with the desert surrounding it. There are many neighborhoods and housing developments surrounds the golf course.

Thank you for sharing your ideas Ashlyn.
If you had to defend this site as being environmental determinist or possibilist, which would you choose?
